Some progress

Finally some progress in our case; our I-130 has been approved.

This case has been approved. On March 29, 2006, an approval notice was mailed.

So hopefully we are only a few months away from my visa now.

Ohioan driver license

According to Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles it seems that I won't be able to get a regular driver license. Instead I will get something called a "Non-renewable/Non-transferable driver license". There is some more information about this in "Digest of Ohio Motor Vehicle Laws", pages 6-7.

Our progress so far

First of all we needed to file a "Petition for Alien Relative" so that once approved we can apply for an immidiate relative visa (IR-1/CR-1).

We have also filed a petition for a non-immigrant spouse visa (K-3) that can be used during the processing of the first petition. Even though the petition is called "Petition for Alien Fiance(e)" it also applies to spouses.

So this will be where I write about my struggles with the American immigration authorities and later on my attempts to adjust to a new set of traditions and cultures in a new country far away from what I used to call my home.
